The Dangers of Adventure

Katherine Ikaunieks | Section Editor

It was a Saturday night, just like any other. Like many of my plans, it started with a text to my friend asking if she wanted to go to an event. A listening party for a new album releasing the next week was being held, but the catch was: we didn’t really know the artist.

Come to the Holton Center Today!

Oliver Keddell | Staff Writer

The Holton Center is a space that is home to many groups on campus, but many people don’t even know it exists. In order to change this, I reached out to four people to ask them three questions:

“Why should students outside designated groups still come to the Holton Center?”

“What is your favorite part about the Holton Center?”

And finally, “What are the best events put on by the Holton Center?”

Understanding My Latine Roots

Tais Avelar | Staff Writer

I lived in Brazil my whole life before coming to the United States for college. I was never very patriotic, and I didn’t truly understand what it meant to be Latina as a personal identity. Society expects us to fit into a box of characteristics and cultural manners that we often do not. I left Brazil feeling extremely sad and lost because I felt I knew nothing about my own social and cultural identity. I wanted to share my culture and country with others, but I didn’t feel I knew them myself.

Campus Events and Communio

Katherine Ikaunieks | Section Editor

Like many of us, on Wednesday, Feb. 4 I heard fire trucks. As I left the library I saw that P6 was full of fire trucks, police cars and that smoke was coming from the facilities garage. While there, I saw my friends and we were all talking about what was happening and also catching up, all while watching the firefighters hacked their way into the garage.
