Students at St. Norbert College can initiate new student organizations by themselves, which brings interesting challenges. One such new group is the Data Science and Analytics Club. With the new Data Analytics major being added only a few semesters ago, it is a good time to have a club which reflects Data students’ interests. This was one of the reason Rohan Das (‘27), club president, gave for founding the club. He explained, “With the industry expanding so rapidly, I felt like this was a gap that needed to be filled. Personally, I love diving into data and figuring out how it can solve real business problems, so I wanted to create a place where students with similar interests could learn together and collaborate on projects.”

In their first semester as a club, Das said the goal is to recruit more members, flesh out club leadership and get the attention of students on campus. The club has been able to contact some analysts from the Green Bay Packers for a speaking event on campus.

For Das, the most difficult part of starting the club has been getting engagement from students because they already have so many opportunities and obligations, which is why the club has been busy with adding activities that best serve interested students.
