It is hard to believe that summer is already fast approaching. The warmer weather the past few weeks has offered a glimpse into what is in store for the months ahead. Although there is still some time before we are officially on summer vacation, it is never too early to start making plans. A popular activity that consistently draws in attendees are musical festivals. These jam-packed events offer the perfect opportunity for individuals to see all of their favorite acts in one place while enjoying the lively atmosphere offered by outdoor concerts.
One of the most notable music festivals in the nation takes place right here in Wisconsin. Returning for the 58th year in summer 2026, Summerfest will once again be hosted in Milwaukee. Summerfest is a nine day long festival that takes place over the course of three weekends. It starts in the middle of June and wraps up each year around the Fourth of July. The festival includes acts that span all genres giving attendees a lot of choice and variety.
This year, there is the return of the main stage, American Family Insurance Amphitheater, in which for an additional cost, attendees can see a different headlining act each night of the festival. Some of the main stage performers this year include Ed Sheeran, Post Malone and Alex Warren. However, if individuals do not want to pay the additional costs, they can purchase general admission tickets that offer them full access to all of the side stages on the Summerfest grounds. Purchasing even a one day pass offers the opportunity to see dozens of noteworthy performances. Near the end of February, the full lineup of performers was announced. Now that dates, times and musical acts are set, it is the perfect time to begin planning.
Even if you are not a fan of music, the Summerfest atmosphere offers far more than performances alone. For instance, many attendees like to take a ride on the famed Summerfest Skyglider. This Skyglider, similar to a ski life, takes riders above the Summerfest grounds giving them a skyline view of the festival, as well as a waterfront look at the city of Milwaukee. There are also a number of restaurants, food stands and food trucks on the grounds that are a popular stop for many of those in attendance. Additionally, if you choose to attend the last weekend of the festival, each night includes a fireworks display leading up to the Fourth of July.
Summerfest is a widely loved addition to the slate of summer activities available to Wisconsin residents. It offers a unique opportunity to see many of your favorite musical acts all in one place. Extending beyond music alone, it offers an immersive experience incorporating activities and events that will peak the interest of attendees of all ages. With summer on the horizon, Milwaukee’s Summerfest is a great activity to add to your slate of fun plans.
