Poster for the Weekly AI Talks hosted by St. Norbert College
The St. Norbert College Information Technology Services department underwent many significant changes over the summer. The ITS Service Desk and the Tech Bar are now housed on the first floor of the Mulva Library, making their services more accessible to students. Beyond the new location, they have also extended their programs and initiatives to reach a broader audience. One such program is a weekly stream of AI talks.
The influence of AI is continuously growing across the nation. It is especially prevalent in educational settings. Many students actively use AIs to aid in project development or find answers to their challenging homework assignments. This makes being able to correctly utilize AI an increasingly desirable skill.
SNC students now have the opportunity to grow their knowledge of AI without leaving campus. Through ITS, the Tech Bar has begun hosting weekly AI talks that students can sit in on. These talks are webinars streamed from the UW-Stout campus and contain new lessons and information about changes occurring in the world of AI today.
Beyond the ability to expand one’s knowledge of AI, there are also incentives to sit in on these talks. Any student, staff, or faculty member that attends can be entered into a monthly raffle, receiving one entry for every session that they attend. Free popcorn is also available at each talk.
Although a new program, it is one of the many ways ITS is making itself more known and prevalent on campus. Services available to students are constantly expanding and offering students the opportunity to learn about many important technological topics including AI. These AI talks will continue to run weekly throughout the remainder of the semester.
