The Autumn Choral Concert took place on Oct. 24, 2025, at the St. Norbert Abbey Church. Songs featured the SNC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. The Concert Choir sang a total of seven songs, three with treble singers only, two with bass singers only and two with the entire choir. Chamber singers sang a total of four songs together and the Concert Choir and Chamber singers came together to perform a 22-minute, powerful three-movement piece that featured brass, percussion, an organ and an orchestra. The concert consisted of only sacred music. The choirs spent two months in class preparing for this concert; however, many took the initiative to practice on their own time to prepare.

As a member of the concert choir, my personal favorite pieces were “O Love” and “Daniel Servant of the Lord.” “O Love” is an empowering piece that centers around the idea of overcoming hardship. The lyrics “I trace the rainbow through the rain and feel the promise is not vain” convey the optimistic message that, despite going through hard times, you can still look for a way out. “O Love” was also a favorite by SNC student Jake D., who stated, “It was a very touching song.” He even went as far as to say that “it brought a tear to my eye.” “Daniel Servant of the Lord” is an upbeat gospel piece featuring soloist Daniel Walter. With a grand finale ending, this song will leave you wanting more.

Other fan favorites included “Beautiful Savior”, “Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho”, “Eatnemen Vuelie”, “The Ground” and “Gloria.” Jake D. said, “It [Beautiful Savior] was quite nice,” and he enjoyed it. Members of the audience may have recognized one of the Concert Choir’s pieces as the theme from the popular Disney movie, "Frozen". While the song starts the same as the theme, it later translates into the original Norwegian text that the popular “Frozen" theme was based on. SNC Student and member of Concert Choir, Oliver Keddell, shared, "Entanemen Vuelie was my favorite piece. I was originally introduced to this piece through the popular Disney movie ‘Frozen.’ Hearing it sung in its original text puts it into an even more beautiful and powerful light.” Samantha Chell, member of both Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, said her favorite song was “The Ground” because “the harmonies were really inspiring to [her]” and “it was a tear-jerker.”

The choirs are now busy preparing for The Festival of Christmas, which features both vocal and instrumental ensembles and is sure to include some of your favorite holiday classics. Don’t miss out. Stop by the Walter Theatre on December 5 at 7:00 p.m. to hear the “magic” of the SNC music department.
