Homecoming Week proved to be quite the event on campus this year. With new and improved events taking place everyday of the week leading up to the big game on Saturday, students had ample opportunity to take part in the fun. This year, St. Norbert saw the return of some favorites such as the Cash Cab and Cannonball Contest, but students also got to take part in new festivities such as the highly anticipated Glowfest.
The week started off strong with the SNC Cash Cab and Paint Your Pride. With the Cash Cab, students could hop on an SNC golf cart and get a ride to class while they answered trivia questions. Anyone who participated was entered into a raffle to win a prize at the end of day. Later that afternoon, students were encouraged to stop outside of Ruth’s Marketplace and participate in Paint Your Pride. This activity allowed students to paint on the windows of the cafeteria what was most important to them at SNC. This event received a strong turnout, especially from student organizations and athletics, all looking to showcase their groups.
Tuesday, students had the opportunity to participate in Minute to Win It-style games for another chance to win a prize. The individuals with the fastest times were able to secure tickets to a Packers game. The following day students were able to attend Rock the Docks. At this event, attendees could craft their own SNC spirit gear while being entertained by a SNC student band named Tuesday. It was a fun way for students to prepare for Homecoming and show off their SNC pride.
Thursday, students saw the return of one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, the Cannonball Contest. At this event, participants dress-up and receive scores from a judging panel based on their cannonball. This year there was another great slate of costumes including the Titanic, Barbie and a Labubu.
The week finished with the introduction of Homecoming Glowfest. This event was hosted in the new Schneider Family Hall. The event included a DJ, dance floor, food and mocktails, as well as interactive glowing decorations. The dance had a great turnout and was the perfect way to wrap up a successful and jam-packed Homecoming Week.
The large slate of events put on by E2K and SGA made Homecoming Week fun and interactive for students. It offered many opportunities to get involved on campus and participate in fun SNC-themed activities. With the success of this year’s events, students are likely already anticipating next year’s festivities.
