Appointments
Scheduled appointments are available for students interested in speaking with a counselor when the situation is not considered an emergency. We schedule these appointments within 3-5 days and sometimes sooner. The intake appointment is typically 50 minutes and follow-up meetings will be determined as the presenting issues are discussed with your counselor.
Biofeedback
Biofeedback is a type of mind-body technique you use to control some of your body's functions, such as your heart rate, breathing patterns and muscle responses. Biofeedback can help relieve pain and reduce tension.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps people process trauma, emotional pain, and other psychological challenges by identifying, focusing on, and releasing deep-rooted issues. The whole basis of brainspotting is "where you look affects how you feel." The therapist guides the client to find a specific "brainspot," which is a point in their visual space that correlates with an unresolved emotional experience. By continuing to focus on this spot, the brain can access and process the underlying issue(s). Brainspotting can be effective for physical and emotional trauma, anxiety, stress, performance blocks/struggles, injuries, chronic pain, depression, emotional regulation, and more.
Alcohol and Other Drug (OADA) Appointments
These appointments are for students that have been referred by an area coordinator or a Judicial Affairs representative, as part of the sanctioning process. The first meeting is 60 minutes and is similar in format to first appointments. A follow-up meeting of 30-55 minutes is included to follow up on information obtained in the first meeting. The goal is to help you understand the outcome of your actions. All the information shared is confidential; the only thing an Area Coordinator, or the Office of Judicial Affairs will know is that you have attended the appointment and that you have successfully completed the meeting(s) that were assigned to you.
