About the Director

Bonnie is currently the director of the children's center at St. Norbert College, and has been at the center for 24 years. In addition to the management of the center, she is a member of the faculty, teaching curriculum and instruction for early childhood. Bonnie has a passion for the education of both young children and pre-service teachers, and St. Norbert College education students are able to gain hands-on experience that develops their teaching craft.

Her teaching philosophy in the children's center and in her college classroom, is based on National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) education model. This approach to early childhood education is based on developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), which dictates that teachers have a clear understanding of child development, view children as individual learners and are appreciative of each child’s culture.

Bonnie has worked with children and families at the center for over 20 years. Her enthusiasm for education extends to a personal level as well and I consider myself a life-long learner. She is currently working towards her doctorate in education at Concordia University in River Forest, IL.
