Elections Code of Ethics

The following must be signed in person and turned in to Student Government upon receiving signature forms. The official document to sign will be provided in person.

The Student Government Association (SGA) of St. Norbert College is committed to serving as the representative voice of the student body and advancing the mission of St. Norbert College. Members of the SGA Executive Board and General Student Assembly have a responsibility to uphold the Student Government Association Constitution and Bylaws, follow all election regulations and campaign standards, and adhere to all policies outlined by St. Norbert College, including the Student Code of Conduct, non-discrimination policy, anti-hazing policy, and campus advertising and posting guidelines.

GENERAL POLICIES OF SIGNATURE ENDORSEMENTS:

  1. Candidates must collect the required number of student signatures to qualify for candidacy.
  2. Signature sheets must be completed physically; digital signatures will not be accepted, unless authorized by the Elections Board.
  3. Email may not be used for soliciting signatures.
  4. Senior students are only to sign endorsement forms for Executive Board candidates.
  5. Signatures may not be collected outside of the signature collection period as published by the Elections Board.
  6. Completed signature forms must be submitted to the Student Government Association Office, Todd Wehr Hall –TWH 150, 8AM - 8PM, Wednesday, April 1st.

CODE OF ETHICS:

  1. Candidates seeking signatures may not under any circumstances tamper with other candidate signature endorsements, purposefully disrupt other candidates seeking signatures, or under any circumstances disparage other students, faculty, staff, or administration.
  2. Students seeking candidacy must abide by all campus policies, should they choose to host an event, tabling, post flyers, or other matters to garner signature endorsements.
  3. Signature endorsements must be real, legitimate, and signed freely only by the student body members themselves.
  4. The information collected on this form may not be used for anything other than its intended purpose to endorse a candidate for approval on the SGA ballot.
  5. It is the candidate's responsibility to review and understand all campaigning policies posted on the SGA website, should they be approved for candidacy on the elections ballot.

My signature (provided only in person) indicates that I have read and understand the Student Government Association General Policies and Code of Ethics. I agree to uphold these standards while serving as a member or candidate of the Student Government Association at St. Norbert College. I understand that failure to adhere to these standards may result in review or disciplinary action in accordance with the SGA Constitution, Bylaws, and College policies.
