Green Initiative Fund (GIF)

Approved through a college-wide student referendum, the Green Initiative Fund demonstrates a student commitment to environmental stewardship at St. Norbert College. Each semester, each full-time student's GIF fee of $7.50 is allocated to this fund which is used to develop environmental projects to promote the sustainability of the college.

Green Initiative Fund Project Proposals	Criteria for Proposals	Completed Projects
Have you noticed something around campus that could us an environmental updated or have a suggestion for how to improve the sustainability on campus? Please submit your project proposals through the on-line submission form.	The Green Initiative Fund at St. Norbert College was developed to help students implement impactful sustainable initiatives on campus. Such initiatives are intended to reduce the overall impact of this institution and the campus community on the environment. We would ask that any project applications include proposed costs, implementation costs, benefit for the campus community and details about how the item(s) would be used. The following guidelines are taken from the bylaws of the GIF funding for determining which projects are approved:	GIF proposed and completed projects.
The selection of project proposals will be done by the SGA Green Initiative Fund Student Committee and will be decided upon by the GIF criteria and by the amount of GIF funds available.	The money generated by the fee must be spent on sustainable initiatives that will benefit the campus community as a whole, rather than individual groups or persons. No "personal gain" requests will be considered.	The GIF Committee
All projects will be forwarded to the appropriate campus department to get a cost estimate and feasability recommendation.	The GIF is a student initiative. All St. Norbert College students are eligible to propose projects for funding. Faculty and Staff are encournaged to collaborate with students on project ideas. Students maintain this initiative and its focus on students by their approval of the funds.
Applications are accepted year round, and from any member of the St. Norbert College community.	The GIF committee will select projects that create lasting change in our campus community. While one-time programs and events may be considered, this fund is to be directed at projects that permanently reduce the college community's environmental footprint.
Those submitting projects will be kept updated regarding the status of their proposal. Projects that are funded may be put on a wait list until funds become available.	Priority will be given to projects that reduce waste and conserve resources. Projects that can produce quantifiable impact will be given preference, though all applications will be considered in light of perceived benefit to the community.
	The GIF committee will give preference to projects that require a single investment and produce a lasting impact and benefit to the College and the community.
