Psychology professor Dr. Raquel Lopez resigned from St. Norbert College on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. As of Thursday, Nov. 20, information regarding the circumstances of her resignation has not been shared with the college community.
Lopez had been teaching at St. Norbert since 2014, making 2025 her eleventh year teaching in De Pere. Her resignation follows significant cuts to faculty and staff in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.
Students enrolled in courses taught by Lopez were notified of the sudden resignation on Sunday, Nov. 9 through email. Prior to her resignation, Lopez was the professor of three psychology courses at St. Norbert College: Childhood Adversity and Resilience, Lifespan and Human Development and Principles and Methods of Psychological Research. Heading these courses now are St. Norbert’s remaining psychology professors — Michelle Schoenleber, Paul Ngo and John Dose.
“One week she was talking about her new promotion and plans to stay at SNC. The next, she was gone without any warning,” said an anonymous student enrolled in Lopez’s Psychological Research course.
“Dr. Lopez was a fun professor. You could tell she genuinely cared for her students and wants them to succeed,” said junior Allison Ssali, a student enrolled in Lopez’s Lifespan and Human Development course. “Each professor has their teaching style that’s unique to them, and she did her best to try not to overcomplicate concepts. The transition for the rest of the semester will not be easy, but I’m grateful I got the time I did to have her as a professor.”
