Filing Your Taxes

All international students and scholars have a federal tax filing requirement. If you didn’t work or receive income in the US you’re still required to file a Form 8843 with the IRS.

St. Norbert College has arranged access to the tax preparation software Sprintax for you. Sprintax will guide you through the tax preparation process and necessary documents and check if you’re due a tax refund.

By the end of February, the CGE will email all international students instructions to access the tax preparation software Sprintax and associated code.

This software will help you prepare your federal tax return.

For an additional fee, Sprintax can assist you in preparing your state income tax return.

Sprintax will help you navigate the U.S. tax system, including:

  • Federal Tax Forms
  • Residency Status
  • Tax Treaties
  • Exemptions
  • Deductions

Important Dates:

  • January 1 - December 31 - The tax year
  • April 15 - Deadline to file your taxes Tax Filing Deadline

The Center for Global Engagement staff are not tax experts and therefore cannot help you prepare your return.

IMPORTANT - Sprintax is provided as a helpful tool to guide you through your tax filing. You are responsible for making sure all information you enter is accurate and for reviewing all forms before submitting them. Any errors or missing information are your responsibility.
