Professional Development Day - Canvas 101 &2.0

This hands-on professional development session is designed to help faculty maximize the power of Canvas for teaching and learning. We’ll begin by outlining the minimum expectations for course design and student accessibility in Canvas, ensuring a consistent and student-friendly experience across courses. Participants will have time to upload materials, organize modules, and streamline their course layout.

From there, we’ll explore how to take Canvas from functional to impactful. Learn to incorporate tools like Canvas Studio, H5P, LTIs, Khanmigo, and other integrations that support interactive, engaging, and personalized learning. We’ll also discuss varying levels of comfort and adoption regarding AI use in the classroom, and how to frame these tools with students as part of transparent, ethical classroom practice.

We will sprinkle in some active learning strategies that can be embedded directly into Canvas, giving you both the tools and the confidence to elevate your course design. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to level up, this session provides the space, support, and inspiration to put your Canvas course into action.
