Of the billions of Catholics throughout the history of the Church, thirty-eight are Doctors of the Church. What does it take to become one and what is the process behind it? This lunch and learn will also explore some of the key reasons why Newman merits the title, Doctor Ecclesiae.

In addition, Dr. Meszaros will also be giving a 7pm lecture the same day on John Henry Newman being declared a Doctor of the Church. Consider registering for each event!

Andrew Meszaros, S.T.D. is first holder of the St John Henry Newman Chair at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, Italy. He completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at Boston College, the University of Oxford, and the Catholic University of Louvain, after which he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Vienna. He has published numerous articles on Catholic theology, especially on the thought of John Henry Newman. His monograph, The Prophetic Church: History and Doctrinal Development in John Henry Newman and Yves Congar was published with Oxford University Press in 2016.
