PTO Balances
Just a reminder that any remaining PTO must be used by 8/8/2026. Any leftover PTO balance will be forfeited once your new PTO allotment has been allocated. Full time employees will receive 48 hours of PTO on 8/9/2026. This amount is prorated based on your FTE if you are less than 1.00.
Regular full-time staff are provided six days of personal paid time off (PTO) annually. Your PTO begins at the start of the pay period in which Aug. 16 falls into, and is available to use through the end of the pay period prior to the pay period in which Aug. 16 of the following year falls into. PTO is prorated for new employees and for those not at 1.00 FTE .
The college provides PTO to assist you if you need to unexpectedly take time off due to illness or injury, or to care for a family member. However, you also may use your PTO for non emergency time off, with supervisor approval. If you need time off and your PTO has been exhausted, your supervisor may allow you to use vacation time. You may only use your yearly PTO during the plan year; you can’t carry over any days into the following year. If you miss work, the college may elect to assign PTO to that time, at its discretion. St. Norbert doesn’t pay out any remaining PTO at the end of employment.
Next Pay Date
The next SNC payroll pay date will be Thursday, June 18th due to Juneteenth falling on Friday, June 19th, which is our normally scheduled pay date.
SAVE THE DATE: Faculty & Staff Professional Development Day
Mark your calendars for our upcoming Faculty & Staff Professional Development Day on Monday August 17. Join us as we come together to learn, connect, and prepare for the year ahead. Additional details, including the schedule and session information, will be shared soon. We look forward to seeing you there! If you are interested in presenting or have an idea for a session-please click here-we would love to hear from you.
Performance Evaluations
The evaluation cycle for the college will be kicked off in Workday starting with the self-evaluation on July 15. The evaluation is a review of work performed from August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026. Training for completing the evaluation process in Workday will be offered in June. As a reminder, goals can be updated or set at any time by following the Setting Goals job aid.
Alternative Work Arrangements
As previously shared, SNC has returned to a fully in-person, on-campus work model for faculty and staff. Hybrid work schedules will not be offered this summer or moving forward.
We recognize that unexpected situations can arise. In certain circumstances such as severe weather, natural disasters, public health concerns, or other unforeseen events the College may implement temporary alternative work arrangements. These decisions will be made at the institutional level based on safety concerns and the needs of the campus community
Outside of these situations, employees are expected to work on campus, and offices should remain fully staffed and open during normal business hours.
Exceptional Service Award
Nominations for the 2026 Exceptional Service Award are now being accepted through Friday, July 10. As a reminder, or for those of you who are new to the college, each year we honor one St. Norbert College staff member (hourly or salaried) with the Exceptional Service Award for service above and beyond normal work expectations. The honoree receives a $1,000 award presented at the President's Faculty/Staff reception in August.
Please help recognize the outstanding colleagues who make a difference at SNC by nominating individuals who exemplify exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to our community. For more information on how to submit a nomination, visit the HR website.
Years of Service Recognition Awards
The list of faculty and staff who are receiving 2026 recognition awards for their years of service to the college is now posted on the HR website. Congratulations to this year’s recipients, and thank you for your service and commitment to St. Norbert College! Gifts will be individually presented at the president’s faculty and staff reception in August.
June Safety Tip: Stay Safe in the Summer Heat
As temperatures rise, it’s important to take precautions when spending time outdoors. Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly, especially during sports, outdoor work, or summer events.
Summer Heat Safety Tips:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day — don’t wait until you feel thirsty.
- Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and sunscreen when outdoors.
- Take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas during hot weather.
- Never leave people or pets in parked vehicles, even for a short time.
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, and fatigue.
A little preparation can help everyone enjoy a safe and healthy summer on campus.
Summer Workday Delegation
As summer is often the season for vacations, please remember that things like payroll processing still need to happen while you are away. Staff should be sure to delegate Workday tasks (such as timesheet approvals) to their colleagues before leaving campus.
Attention Managers
If you are planning to hire incoming students as temporary staff over summer or continue employment for newly graduated students, please connect with the HR office (email: hr@snc.edu) for guidance.
Timesheets
As a reminder, hourly employees’ timesheets need to be submitted by noon every other Monday for payroll processing. Timesheets need to be approved no later than 4pm Monday for payroll processing. Please be mindful of these deadlines.
