February 26 was National Study Abroad Day, which recognizes the benefits of study abroad programs for students. It is also intended to provide students with information and resources that will aid them in starting their study abroad experience.
At St. Norbert study abroad programs are very popular. To celebrate National Study Abroad Day, SNC hosted a table outside of Ruth’s Marketplace to provide students with information regarding the study abroad programs they offer. Students have the opportunity to study in countless countries around the globe for a semester during their college career. There are even opportunities to participate in J-Term or summer programs.
Many students at SNC choose to study abroad, a much larger amount than at most other schools around the nation. The school offers an array of opportunities and out-of-the-box experiences for participants. It is also very affordable for students. Typically, the cost to go abroad is comparable to that of a semester at SNC. There are also numerous scholarships available to cover other costs students may encounter.
It is a personalized experience and easy to find appeal in no matter the area of study you are pursuing. It is especially conducive and beneficial to those studying a language, as it is an immersive living situation that offers learning opportunities not available with a traditional education.
There are many pros to the study abroad program, including a mix of security and new experiences, which is crucial for students. Klara Banemark, one of the individuals running the information table, mentioned, “I cannot list enough pros to go abroad. Meeting new people you will know for life, being exposed to new cultures and there are so many opportunities like getting internships and making global connections.”
There are various on-campus resources available to students who have an interest in pursuing this further. Upon further research and discussion about the study abroad programs at SNC you will find that the opportunities for study abroad are endless.
