The Green Knight Men’s Basketball team played their first conference game against the Concordia Chicago Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 21, 2023. The game took place at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center in De Pere, Wisconsin. The Green Knights went on to beat the Cougars 86-80.
To start the first half, the Green Knights scored first and pretty much stayed on top for the rest of the game. The Cougars briefly took the lead twice early in the first half, but the Green Knights managed to come back and gain control of the score. In fact, the Green Knights went up by as many as 11 points multiple times throughout the half. The Cougar’s offense, however, went on a run at the end of the half, cutting the Green Knights’ lead down to only two points. At the end of the half, the score was 39-37 in favor of the Green knights. Jamison Nickolai (‘25) and Evan Glaser (‘24) led the Green Knight offense in the first half. Nickolai scored 11 points and Glaser scored 9. Glaser also made all five of his free throws in the first half.
The Green Knights started off the second half hot, scoring eight points and letting the Cougars slowly fall behind. The Cougars never gave up, though, and began to chip away at the Green Knights’ lead. About midway through the half, the score was tied up 61-61. The Cougars took a short one-point lead, but that was all they would manage. The Green Knights quickly recovered and went on to win the game. Aidan Harrington (‘25) led the Green Knight offense in the second half, scoring 12 points. Jamison and Glaser each added 11 more points. Jamison made all six of his free throws in the second half.
The results of this game handed the Green Knights their first conference win of the season and added on to their four-game winning streak. The Green Knights returned to practice in preparation for their next conference matchup against Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday Nov. 29, 2023.
