Poetry Slam signups open
Signups are open for the upcoming second annual Poetry Slam competition. Share your work!
A Poetry Slam is a competition involving elements of poetry, theater, performance and storytelling. Contestants should prepare three unique pieces following these guidelines:
- Less than two minutes for Round 1
- Less than three minutes for Round 2
- Less than five minutes for Round 3
All entrants will compete in Round 1 with select poets advancing to Round 2, and top three advancing to Round 3 for final selections. Cash prizes are up for grabs!
The Poetry Slam is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19. Doors open and signups start at 5:30 p.m.

Correction: Wage Tiers for On-campus Student Employment
The top wage tier on campus is Tier 4 at $13. All campus departments share in the equity of the student wage scale. (An incorrect wage was listed in the Wednesday, Oct. 4, issue of SNC News.)

All are invited to participate in a trivia contest to learn more about the college and win prizes. All student entries will be entered into a drawing to win SNC swag from the bookstore. The drawing will take place live at the SNC Birthday and Homecoming Kickoff event on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1-3:30 p.m. at Baer Mall (rain site: Todd Wehr Hall lobby).
A link to the trivia contest is available on the Heritage Week website and via mySNC. All entries must be submitted by the end of the day today (Monday, Oct. 9).

Fall video shoot
Wednesday, Oct. 11
The office of communications is looking for students to participate in a video shoot at different areas of campus on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The team won't conduct video interviews, but will capture footage of students interacting with each other across campus. The footage will be used for future marketing videos for the college.
St. Norbert College apparel is strongly encouraged, but not required. Please avoid wearing anything with names or logos of other colleges.
The group will start outside Old St. Joe's at 9:45 a.m. Bring a friend and come on out!

“The Transperience” kickoff and installation
Thursday, Oct. 12-Wednesday, Oct. 18
“The Transperience” is an artistic multimedia immersive experience. It includes various works of art, multimedia images, soft sculptures, clothing, voices and interactive opportunities. All who enter will gain a glimpse into the transfemme experience: its joys and challenges.
“The Transpereince” kickoff, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, will feature a panel discussion and a sneak peek of the installation. The installation will be open for self-guided viewing Oct. 13-18 in Mulva Library 101 during the library's open hours. It is free and open to the public.

Situational Awareness: Opioid Crisis and Active Threats Presentations

Join for two one-hour presentations:
- Opioid Crisis: Hear a personal testimony and learn the community's response to the opioid crisis to include education on Narcan. Presented by Jim Brunner, prevention specialist with Vivent Health.
- Active Threats: Learn to recognize warning signs and react quickly in an active threat situation. Presented by De Pere Officer, Jedd Bradley.
Light refreshments and an educational resource fair will be available during the 30-minute break between sessions.

Students: Join Academic Advising and Career Development Center at the Etiquette Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Hendrickson Dining Room of the F. K. Bemis International Center.
Enjoy a three-course meal while listening to an interactive presentation where you will learn tips and tricks on dining etiquette, professional dress and business etiquette. Etiquette consultant Lyn brings energy and passion to her presentation and will help students learn how to transition into the professional world. There will also be opportunities for conversation and networking with employer sponsors hosting tables.
The event is free! Once you register, your attendance is expected.
